Our client are a specialist agency providing PR and marketing communications support to the Automotive sector. As a result of continuous expansion we seek an Account Manager to join the team.

Role Profile:

The Account Manager will deliver successful marketing communications projects. The Account Manager will apply a proactive, rigorous and enthusiastic approach to the generation of ideas, the coordination of resources, and the management of account executive time to deliver success within the timescales and budgets agreed with the account director.

Reporting to:
Account Director

Key Duties:

  1. Responsibility for the delivery of marketing communications projects:

    • Plan actions required to deliver projects
    • Coordinate resources including account executive time
    • Ensure compliance with appropriate systems and processes
    • Monitor timing, quality and budgets
    • Ensure that client expectations are understood and exceeded

  2. Manage suppliers:

    • Agree contracts, negotiate pricing and delivery
    • Monitor quality and performance
    • Ensure compliance with agreed expectations

  3. Review and approve the work of account executives, using the review process to coach and develop the account executive’s skills and encourage continuous improvement
  4. Be the key contact for journalists within his/her specialist area, developing close relationships based on knowledge and trust
  5. Be the key contact for clients within his/her specialist area, developing close relationships based on knowledge and trust
  6. Develop original proposals for new campaigns and other activities that will help meet the clients’ objectives
  7. Coordinate the delivery of cuttings, reports and other management documentation required by the client and the account director
  8. Ensure that the success of the team is visible to the client
  9. Implement, monitoring and control systems required by the account director
  10. To provide miscellaneous support to account manager /director:

    • Identify and rectify points of potential failure as early as possible
    • Praise team members for success
  1. Proactively identify story ideas to discuss with the account director
  2. Identify opportunities to sell other services to clients
  3. Support the account director at meetings and events
  4. Manage events and press visits
  5. Take part in brain storming sessions to generate campaign ideas

Candidate Skills:

  1. Excellent written and oral communications with a strong understanding of the agreed style and grammar
  2. An ability to see ‘the big picture’
  3. Creativity in story generation and the development of ingenious marketing solutions
  4. Commitment to all aspects of quality
  5. A detailed knowledge of the industries covered by the role including contextual issues and the business environment
  6. A detailed knowledge of the media covered by the role
  7. A detailed knowledge of the clients’ companies and products
  8. Effective project management and time management skills
  9. A high degree of technical understanding may be required depending on the role
  10. May require occasional weekend and evening work as dictated by client objectives
  11. May involve some overseas travel and overnight stays

Candidate Profile:

  1. The ideal candidate will have a Degree in either Engineering / Manufacturing orAutomotive disciplines or relevant work experience and knowledge of these sectors
  2. Proven PR andMarketing skills are required
  3. It would be advantageous if candidates had an understanding of technical concepts or a good knowledge of technical engineering
  4. Excellent writing skills, preferably to a technical standard, are also required
  5. PR skills within engineering / manufacturing / automotive / construction sectors would be advantageous
  6. Candidates with a wide range of PR experience, who can write technical articles to a high standard will be considered
  7. Candidates must have a proven genuine passion / appreciation for the automotive / engineering sectors
